This 30th annual free event allows the public to see and purchase original art from the artist’s studio and helps support our local artists. Enjoy great food, wine, beer and other beverages at the beautiful historic Perry House event center, 201 Van Buren Street, overlooking the bay. This is a free celebration for adult paid members of Old Town Neighborhood Association. This popular event is often full, and space is limited so RSVP to Phyllis Bussey at philbussey2@gmail.com ASAP. Please use RSVP in your subject line, and be sure to give the names of adult members, your address, email, and phone. Reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis and are limited to members only through October 7, after which, subject to availability on our waiting list, we will allow member guests at $5.00 per person. If you want to join or renew your membership, see details at the bottom of this bulletin. Dues paid now will be valid through 2023. Vaccine verification is not required, and we will have access to the house interiors as well as the carriage house. Let Phyllis know if you can volunteer at check-in for a 30-40 minute shift.

Friday, September 2, 12 pm – Kids Day at the Monterey County Fair – Kids under 12 free admission. Carnival rides and rodeo cost $30 for all day wristband. Rodeo is at 6 pm. Advance tickets Adults $10, Seniors/Military $9. Tickets include all concerts, including Nicol’s concert, magic, hypnosis, comedy, and racing pigs.
Friday, September 2, 5-8 pm First Night Monterey at the Alvarado Street Mall, between Del Monte and Custom House Plaza. Enjoy music, art, and specials by merchants the first Friday of each month through December.

Friday, September 2, 12 pm – Kids Day at the Monterey County Fair – Kids under 12 free admission. Carnival rides and rodeo cost $30 for all day wristband. Rodeo is at 6 pm. Advance tickets Adults $10, Seniors/Military $9. Tickets include all concerts, including Nicol’s concert, magic, hypnosis, comedy, and racing pigs.
Saturday, September 3, Sunday, September 4, and Monday September 5.2022 , noon– Monterey County Fair Admission ranges from $5 for children 5-12 to $10 ($13 at the gate) for adults. Concerts, magic, comedy and racing pigs contest are all part of the entertainment and included with paid admission. Children under 5 are free. All day wristband for carnival rides costs $30. Friday, September 9 – Sunday, September 11, 2022 – Festa Italia! returns to the Custom House Plaza. Free. Friday 5-9 pm The Money Band. Saturday 10 am- Opening ceremonies and procession to Old Fisherman’s Wharf for the blessing of the fleet. 11:30am-9 pm -Music begins with Pasquale Esposito, and continues with Anthony Lane Band, Singers Erasmo Aiello and Dave Marzetti accompanied by Mike Marotta Jr, Dennis Murphy, Dave Dally, Paul Tarantino and Skylar Campbell; Tarantella Dancers, Anthony Lane Band 5-7 pm, Chicano All Stars 7 pm – 9 pm. Waterwise Gardens Wanted- The Historic Garden League is looking for waterwise gardens in Old Town to be part of a Garden Tour the end of September or early October, as a fundraiser for the maintenance of Casa de Oro and Cooper Molera Adobe gardens. Monterey Free Trolley Daily Service Begins Saturday, June 25 through Monday, September 5, 10-6 pm. The trolley departs from downtown to the aquarium at designated stops every 10 to 15 minutes. Route information is at Monterey.org/parking.
Monterey Museum of Art – New summer exhibition of paintings and sculpture by Enrique Martinez Celaya and rarely seen photographs and handwritten poems by Robinson Jeffers, on view May 12 – October 9, 2022 (fee).

Undergrounding Committee Seeks Interested Residents -Our Old Town Neighborhood Undergrounding Committee is working jointly with interested residents of Monterey Vista and New Monterey Neighborhoods to work on a plan to underground utilities. Monterey County Theater Alliance – The Monterey County Theater Alliance has been providing us many interesting theatrical presentations over zoom.
