Thursday, July 27, 7:30 pm – “Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary and Mammal Protection”   lecture at Hopkins Marine Station Boatworks Building Lecture Hall by Lisa Woonick, Superintendent of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary.  Free and open to the public.  Doors open at 7 pm.  More info at acsmb.org.


Tuesday, August 1, 6:30 pm $2 Tuesday Classic Movie Night at the Stanton Center auditorium, Custom House Plaza, sponsored by Monterey History and Art.  See the Alexander Korda’s classic movie, “Jungle Book” by Rudyard Kipling, from the 1930s (not the animated versions). 

Friday, August 4, 5-7 pm – First Friday at Monterey Museum of Art on Pacific Street, with extended hours and FREE access.  Enjoy an evening of art, music and community gathering.

Saturday, August 5, 10-12 noon.  FREE Wharf Walk with historian Tim Thomas.  The walk will focus on Abalone and the Japanese Fishermen of the Monterey Bay.  Free, but reservations required by calling Tim Thomas at 831-521-3304 or via emai at timsardine@yahoo.com.  Ages 10-adult, limited to first 15 people.

Saturday, August 5, 3-6 pm – Reception of new artists at Venture Gallery at the Portola Hotel.  See the new exhibits and meet Craig Lauterbach (wood scuptures), Sarah Leonard (Coastal oil paintings), and Dee Steiner (romantic oil paintings of park, trails and sunsets in impressionistic style) at this artist reception.  The show runs August 1-31.  Free.

Monday, August 7, 6-8:30 pm -Community Open House to Introduce Draft of the 2023-31 Housing Element for Monterey, held at the Monterey Conference Center, 1 Portola Plaza.   Open to the public.

Friday, August 11, 5-7 pm – Monterey Kick-Off Cruise in of Historic Racing Cars are on exhibit in the 300 block of Alvarado Street (Del Monte corner) in Monterey at this free event.   There is also a Driver’s Reception at Cibo’s Restaurant open to the public from 5-7 pm with complimentary appetizers and live jazz starting at 5:30. 

Wednesday, August 16, 12-5 pm – Little Car Show in downtown Pacific Grove on Lighthouse Avenue.  View 100 miniature cars with parade and tour around the coastline starting at 5 pm.   Free event.

Thursday, August 17, 7 am- 12 noon- Tours d’Elegance -Catch a glimpse of cars that will compete in the Concours d’Elegance as they tour from Pebble Beach around the peninsula and return to Pebble Beach.  

Thursday, August 17, 11am-4 pm – Prancing Ponies- on Ocean Avenue in Carmel.  See women-owned exotic, classic, muscle, sports, and electric cars at this free event.  Fashion show featuring local models and designers.  Awards for best presentation at 4 pm.

Friday, August 18, 12 noon – 6 pm- Pacific Grove Rotary Councours Auto Rally- View vintage cars on display at Lighthouse and Forest in downtown Pacific Grove.  Best in class will be awarded at 4 pm.  Parade of the cars and rally begin at 5 pm, with cars touring the shoreline from Lovers Point to Asilomar and returning at 6 pm.  Free.

November 1, 2023 -Old Town Neighborhood Association Annual Member Appreciation Evening at the Perry House.   Save the date for our annual fabulous party at the Perry House for members of Old Town Neighborhood Association.  Enjoy an evening of great food, wine, beer and other beverages at this lovely historical home overlooking the harbor.  If you are not a member yet, please see the bottom of this bulletin.  More information to follow as event gets closer.   Opening of reservations will be available later for paid members with announcement in a future bulletin.   This event is free to members.

Saturday, July 15, 2-4 pm – Old Town Neighborhood Association Annual Summer Social in the Veteran’s Park Group Site 1 (on the main lawn, close to the play structure).  This is a free family event for all Old Town residents, and a great time to socialize with neighbors and enjoy food and perhaps a friendly game of bocce, Jumbo Jenga corn hole or Ladder Ball.  OTNA will provide snacks and cold drinks (no alcohol allowed) but residents are encouraged, but not required, to bring a hand-held sweet or savory snack to share.  Dogs on leash welcome too.  Reservations not required.  Please park along Veteran’s Drive or by basketball courts, but not in campsites.   Questions? Tuesday, July 4 – Independence Day on the Wharf – Come get a photo op at the wharf which will be decorated for Independence Day.  Enjoy a free piece of red, white, and blue salt-water taffy from costumed characters at Candy World, plus find special candy, food and souvenirs to purchase from merchants on the wharf.

Saturday, July 15, 2-4 pm – Old Town Neighborhood Association Annual Summer Social in the Veteran’s Park Group Site 1 (on the main lawn, close to the play structure).  This is a free family event for all Old Town residents, and a great time to socialize with neighbors and enjoy food and perhaps a friendly game of bocce, corn hole or Ladder Ball.  OTNA will provide snacks and cold drinks (no alcohol allowed) but residents are encouraged to bring a hand-held sweet or savory snack to share.  Dogs on leash welcome too.  Reservations not required.  Please park along Veteran’s Drive or by basketball courts, but not in campsites.   Questions? Friday, May 5, 2023, 10-2 pm  Meet the Artist Maria Poroy at Venture Gallery, Portola Hotel, 260 Alvarado Street.  Old Town’s own Maria Poroy will display and discuss her vividly colored art as May’s featured artist.  Come visit her on May 5 and May 20.  Her art is on display May 1-31.

 Saturday, May 6, 8 am-5 pm and Sunday 10-5- Pacific Grove’s “Good Old Days” begins with an 8 am pancake breakfast at Jewell Park and parade on Pine Street at 10 am on Saturday, with  fun, live music on five stages, food, and craft booths throughout both days on Lighthouse Avenue.  The festival is free, but carnival rides and petting zoo requires fee.
