Extension of Jefferson Street
ca1930

The American Legion Post No. 41 represents veterans on the Monterey Peninsula. The post has hosted veterans and their families since its construction around the 1930s.  It was reportedly constructed by veterans of World War I. Originally on ground leased from the County of Monterey, its lease was transferred from the county and the building is now part of the City of Monterey. In addition to being leased out for social events, the community of Old Town often has used the hall as a voting precinct in national elections.

Directions to the next house: Turn around and go back down the extension of Jefferson Street. Turn left onto High Street, then take a quick left onto Harrison Street. The next house is the Ruth S. Rodefer House (1122 Harrison Street), #19 on the map below.
